Fall Prevention Tai Chi
This class introduces the Tai Chi for Fall Prevention sequence starting from the very beginning. Regularly practicing the slow, rhythmic movements of Tai Chi smooths out stiff joints, improves balance, and promotes a sense of well-being. This program benefits anyone from age 50 upward interested in maintaining their vitality.
Instructor, Leah Gessner, is certified by Tai Chi Vermont, a non-profit organization that promotes the Falls Prevention Tai Chi program and trains instructors throughout the state. Guilford Cares does not charge for these classes. (Of course, Guilford Cares always welcomes donations.)

Herbal Shrub Class
Shrubs, or drinking vinegars, are made when honey, fruit, and herbs are extracted in vinegar. Shrubs are a simple delicious way to integrate more plants into your days! Non-alcoholic and easy to make, shrubs provide a deeply hydrating electrolyte blend and are especially great at extracting minerals. They can be drunk as is, added to water or seltzer, and even used as salad dressing.
In this two hour class, we will discuss the ins and outs of making shrubs, make a strawberry shrub together that folks can bring home with them, and sample a variety of shrubs. Bring any herbs you are inspired to use!

Library Camp - LARPing
Grades 4–7
Leader: Eli Welch
July 28 - August 1, 2025
9am–1:00pm
An immersive and inspired workshop based program with a focus on PROCESS. We’ve kept journals, created storyboards, scripts, sets, incidental sounds… of course we’ve developed characters, scenes, monologues, mini-plays along with many many theater games and exercises. This usually blossoms into a performance if the kids are into it at the end of camp. If the “show” happens it’s a fun window into the worlds they’ve created during this week.

Community Yoga
Join us for a Kripalu All-Level Community Yoga Class organized by the amazing folks at the Guilford Recreation Commission.
This class is accessible to people of all abilities and experience. Kripalu-style yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga that is a nonsectarian and nondogmatic vinyasa (flow) style class. Each class includes a centering pranayama (breathing exercise), warm-ups, asana (posture) sequences, and a final guided shavasana (relaxation). Modification prompts will be provided for those who would like to challenge themselves or those who would like accessibility options for their body.
Discover the mind-body connection, encourage stress reduction, and improve self-regulation and physical health. Guided by Lindsay Parise, a yoga practitioner of over two decades, who is excited to offer this community-based class.
This 60-minute class meets at the Broad Brook Community Center every Monday at 5 pm.
COST: by donation, suggested $10 ($5 for seniors and those receiving EBT benefits)
PARTICIPANTS: adults and children 10 and older are welcome, children need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the class.
Participants should bring their own mat and any props they might need, though a few will be available to borrow. Chairs will be available if this modification is needed.
