Join us for our next Emergency Management Exercise as we prepare the Broad Brook Community Center, our primary emergency shelter, for potential activation.
Working alongside staff from the American Red Cross, volunteers will practice setting up shelter equipment, organizing supplies, reviewing shelter operations, and completing intake procedures. The Red Cross shelter trailer will be on site, providing an opportunity to unload equipment and determine the most effective layout for shelter operations.
The exercise will also include a review of the Battery Energy Systems used to support shelter operations.
All Emergency Management volunteers, including Hub Managers, are encouraged to participate. This hands-on training is an excellent opportunity to build familiarity with shelter procedures and strengthen our community's emergency preparedness.
Additional Red Cross training resources, including shelter operations websites and instructional videos, will be shared with participants in the coming weeks.
Lunch and snacks will be provided.
