Play Auditions

  • Broad Brook Community Center 3940 Guilford Center Road Guilford, VT 05301 USA (map)

Guilford Center Stage will hold open auditions for actors for their fall production, Agatha! in two sessions: Wednesday, July 30, 7-9 pm and Saturday, August 2, 10 am - 1 pm.  Directed by Miles Ledoux, of Springfield, Vermont, "Agatha!" is an evening of 2 one-act Agatha Christie plays:  "The Yellow Iris" is a radio play Christie wrote in the 1930s, which introduced the character of detective Hercule Poirot.  "The Thumb Mark of Saint Peter," which introduced her other famous detective character, Miss Marple, was adapted by Miles Ledoux from a Christie short story.  Julie Holland is production manager.

The show will be on stage at Broad Brook Community Center October 17-19.

No reservations are necessary to audition.  There are female and male adult roles in both plays in a range of characters from 20's to 70's in age, and one part for a female jazz singer (auditioners for this role should prepare a short solo, for example "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess or "Fever" by Peggy Lee.)  Although no prepared monologue is required — those trying out will be given scenes to read from the script — anyone who is auditioning for the two leads (Poirot or Marple) may prepare a short monologue from a play or story of their choice featuring these characters.

This production concludes the 10th anniversary season of Guilford Center Stage.  Auditions are held on the second-floor stage of the Community Center, fully ADA-accessible, with an elevator to the theater space.
