Root Cellar Sound presents Community Concert Series! FREE monthly community concerts with musical artists local to global.

Joel 'Veena' Eisenkramer is an award-winning exponent of the rare 20-stringed Indian slide guitar and Guilford resident. Kicking off the community concert series, Joel will be performing a solo concert at the Broad Brook Community Center on May 31 at 6pm.

Steeped in the oral tradition of Hindustani (north Indian) music, he will play classical ragas and original compositions, presenting the music along with stories of his training and tours in India and fascinating tales from the storied lore of Indian music. A raga is a largely improvised music form from South Asia with a rich structure, created live on the stage in the moment based on the time and place in which it is performed; come uncover what the ragas of Guilford spring evening will sound like!
