You may have noticed the scarce and distorted leaves on our beech trees and saplings this year. Beech Lead Disease (BLD) is a rapidly moving plant disease that has caused widespread damage in just the past two years. Sadly, many trees will not survive the onslaught.
What causes this blight? Is there any way of stopping it? What about all the critters that rely on beech trees? These are some of the many questions we will aim to answer at our upcoming Beech Leaf Disease Community Awareness meeting. Plant and wildlife experts from the State and local forestry specialists will explain the blight and answer your questions. Participants will leave with actionable steps towards reducing the impacts of this devastating disease on our forests, homes, and wildlife.
For those unable to attend, Brattleboro Community TV will record the presentation and publish it online. You may send questions ahead of time to Guilford Tree Warden, Matty Stinchfield, at palatejack@gmail.com.
